Bayhorse – One Stop Shopping for a New Amish Building

PattersonGarage

Bayhorse Gazebos & Barns in Red Hook, NY has the most extraordinary selection of Amish buildings anywhere in the Hudson Valley and possibly well beyond.  With well over 100 buildings in stock, you would think it might be easy to get lost on their five-acre lot.  Luckily, everything is artfully arranged in aisles and rows and the Bayhorse staff is always happy to point customers in the right direction to find the perfect Amish building to meet their needs.

Their sheds, garages, horse barns, gazebos, pergolas, play houses, swing sets, pavilions, chicken coops, rabbit hutches, dog kennels, dog houses and outdoor furniture are all top quality and built to last.  Everything you see on their lot is handcrafted by expert Amish woodworkers in Lancaster County, PA.

Early in 2016, Bayhorse owner Gerry Thorpe took a leap of faith and started offering customers what he calls “a one stop shopping experience.” After fielding questions for years about building permits and regulations, zoning codes, materials for site preparation, concrete and masonry contractors, Gerry decided to bring as much as possible in-house.

“Our customers told us they were tired of having to deal with three or four different people just to get a storage shed installed on their property”, says Thorpe. Bayhorse was already working with a customer at the beginning of the process, to pick out a building, and again at the end make the delivery. They just needed to take care of the steps in between, where people sometimes ran into trouble.

“We started making trips to meet with building and zoning officers to secure permits on behalf of our customers. Then we built a relationship with an architect who does our drawings for everything from a small shed to a two-story garage with a legal apartment upstairs. Now we have concrete vendors and masons for garage foundations and our own equipment to move materials to a customer’s property and build a pad for a shed or gazebo,” Thorpe explained.

The move paid off and the people buying buildings from Bayhorse could not be happier. Roy Cohen had Bayhorse build a new garage for him at his Red Hook property. “Bayhorse made it easy for me, which is important since I live in New Jersey.  They did it all in two days. They were super nice guys with incredible workmanship and work ethic. Kind of like yesteryear,” says Cohen.
